Summary

The #1 New York Times bestselling series continues!

A wall can't protect them anymore 。 。 。

Snowfall didn't expect to be queen of the IceWings at such a young age, but now that she is, she's going to be the best queen ever。 All she has to do is keep her tribe within IceWing territory, where it's safe -- while keeping every other tribe out, where they belong。

It's a perfect and simple plan, backed up by all the IceWing magic Snowfall can find。 That is, until a storm of unidentified dragons arrives on her shore, looking for asylum。

The foreigners are completely strange and, Snowfall is certain, utterly untrustworthy。 But as she escorts the miserable new tribes out of her kingdom, Snowfall is forced to reconsider her plan。 Maybe she can only keep her tribe safe 。 。 。 if she's willing to risk everything。

I really liked this one。My son (12) says this wasn't his favorite because the action slows down。 The whole book takes place over a day or two and sets up a final book。I liked the character of Snowfall-- she started the book over-the-top crazy paranoid, and ended up a much more well-rounded dragon through some fun magical means。In this book we run into a lot of the characters from all over the Wings of Fire series, including the (very fun) Dragonslayer stand-alone。 Since it's been a year or so si I really liked this one。My son (12) says this wasn't his favorite because the action slows down。 The whole book takes place over a day or two and sets up a final book。I liked the character of Snowfall-- she started the book over-the-top crazy paranoid, and ended up a much more well-rounded dragon through some fun magical means。In this book we run into a lot of the characters from all over the Wings of Fire series, including the (very fun) Dragonslayer stand-alone。 Since it's been a year or so since I've read them, I'm sure I missed a bit。 Ah well。I'm ready for book 15。 。。。more

It is a little slower than I refer but if you like that kind of book go for it。 Although you HAVE to read the ones before it to understand what's going on otherwise you wont understand a word Tui T。 Sutherland is saying which is one of the reasons why I love her and her books。 It is a little slower than I refer but if you like that kind of book go for it。 Although you HAVE to read the ones before it to understand what's going on otherwise you wont understand a word Tui T。 Sutherland is saying which is one of the reasons why I love her and her books。 。。。more

3。8 StarsMrs。 Sutherland's style is as engaging as ever, but I get why everyone was calling this a filler book。 Snowfall was an enjoyable, realistic character, but her narration, I have to say, got grating。 I mean, I'm all one for unique character voices, but will all the ALL CAPS she felt younger than I think she's supposed to be, and subsequently a little OBNOXIOUS。At the end of it, though, she was a good character and I can appreciate that some folks have identified with her a lot。 Exploring 3。8 StarsMrs。 Sutherland's style is as engaging as ever, but I get why everyone was calling this a filler book。 Snowfall was an enjoyable, realistic character, but her narration, I have to say, got grating。 I mean, I'm all one for unique character voices, but will all the ALL CAPS she felt younger than I think she's supposed to be, and subsequently a little OBNOXIOUS。At the end of it, though, she was a good character and I can appreciate that some folks have identified with her a lot。 Exploring PTSD? Dealing with the crushing anxiety and stress of expectations when you have no feasible way out? Totally awesome。 At the end of it, though, the book felt like a very long prologue。 I suppose I'm just finding it harder to get into this arc。 I loved seeing Sky and Wren, as well as revisiting Winter, Quibli, and the rest of them (also loved seeing hybrid representation!), but hopefully I can grow a little more attached to the new cast。 。。。more

Very enjoyable overall, however, it felt very repetitive。 I loved reading it for the nostalgic aspect, I loved this series as a kid。 That being said, I knew the language was going to be a bit more basic, as it is targeted towards a younger audience。 Loved Snowfall's character development, and also the introduction of the Pantalan dragons to the new continent。 Very enjoyable overall, however, it felt very repetitive。 I loved reading it for the nostalgic aspect, I loved this series as a kid。 That being said, I knew the language was going to be a bit more basic, as it is targeted towards a younger audience。 Loved Snowfall's character development, and also the introduction of the Pantalan dragons to the new continent。 。。。more

**Spoilers** Um, was anyone else annoyed on how Snowfall attacked the poor dragons from the other continent? I am even MORE annoyed that animus magic is broken。 They act like it's no big deal, but seriously, the addition of animus magic made this series pretty interesting。 But still, I get why Jerboa did it。 I just wanna give her a little love。 I feel so bad for her and want to just KILL HER SO CALLED MOTHER。 Seriously, am I the only one who cares about these things? Hey everyone, welcome back to one of Anna's Incredibly Chaotic and Allegedly Entertaining Goodreads Reviews。 Here we go!Well。。。when I started this, Snowfall got on my nerves。 I almost thought I'd found a WOF protagonist who annoyed me more than Sundew。 So, personally I thought that Snowfall's arc was very good, because I went from being driven UP THE WALL by her to actually quite liking her。THINGS I LIKED:- The visions were quite fun, especially the one with Glacier。 My stone-cold heart was melt Hey everyone, welcome back to one of Anna's Incredibly Chaotic and Allegedly Entertaining Goodreads Reviews。 Here we go!Well。。。when I started this, Snowfall got on my nerves。 I almost thought I'd found a WOF protagonist who annoyed me more than Sundew。 So, personally I thought that Snowfall's arc was very good, because I went from being driven UP THE WALL by her to actually quite liking her。THINGS I LIKED:- The visions were quite fun, especially the one with Glacier。 My stone-cold heart was melted a little。- Lynx。 I never understood why people shipped Lynxter before now, but I see it now。 - Speaking of which, Winter- My baby Daffodil turned up here。 Now if there was one character that I was not expecting to see here, it's Daffodil, and I absolutely adore her。 - The meetings with the Queens。 That was cool!- RIPNAMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Snowfall has a delightful array of creative insultsTHINGS I DISLIKED:- Cricket got so sidelined。 BLUE WAS BASICALLY NONEXISTENT EXCEPT FOR THAT HORRIBLE HORRIBLE VISION (I MUST PROTECT MY BABY)。 Swordtail got mentioned like twice in the whole thing。 Bumblebee。。。there wasn't enough of her either。 On the plus, much less Sundew。- Snowfall in the beginning hurt my soul- We had Moon。 We had Qibli。 We did not have ONE SECOND of Moonbli。 May I remind you that they only started dating like a week ago。。。why are they not being more adorable?? Thankfully, they've both been sent as representatives so maybe we'll get some more Moonbli in the next book。- Wren and Sky。 Like many other reviewers, I'm not big on the fact that the humans are now getting to be a huge plot point。 Wren was far less annoying in this book than in Dragonslayer, unlike Sky, who was cute but a bit shallow and immature。 I cannot believe that there was somehow a romance implied between him and Snowfall。。。please spare us。 - Actually, it would be nice if Snowfall doesn't wind up with a love interest, because that never happens in this series。 Well, technically, it does, once an arc。 Ish。 If Sutherland somehow manages to force a romance between Sky and Snowfall, we're going to have to have BUMBLEBEE (the literal child) as the honourary single character for this arc。- Why did Glory choose a random-as RainWing named Pineapple (Snowfall is right, it is a silly name) as the RainWing representative。 I want Glory or Kinkajou。- The antagonist is still a plant。 No, I have not recovered from that。But that is the end。 I did enjoy this book AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE! Also I CANNOT WAIT for Luna and Swordtail's tearful renuion。 And it had better be a tearful renuion。 And I really, really hope that we get some form of closure with Blicket and that it won't be a horrendous SHIP TEASE, like everything in the first arc。 But that's all from me。 Eagerly awaiting the next installment in the series。 Also Jerboa I is just absolutely the worst ever。 The。 Worst。 Ever。 She's potentially worse than Morrowseer and Scarlet。 Anyway, that's all for now, folks! 。。。more

Putting the whole series (to date) review here。 I read them all one after the other over the last few weeks。 I'm not going to write a review for each book。 All in all, a great series。 A fun read with a few books that were pretty slow in the beginning when new environments/character groups were introduced。 If you are a parent reading these to make decisions for your child, the series is pretty innocent and is appropriate for late elementary and early middle school in terms of themes。 If you care, Putting the whole series (to date) review here。 I read them all one after the other over the last few weeks。 I'm not going to write a review for each book。 All in all, a great series。 A fun read with a few books that were pretty slow in the beginning when new environments/character groups were introduced。 If you are a parent reading these to make decisions for your child, the series is pretty innocent and is appropriate for late elementary and early middle school in terms of themes。 If you care, no gay characters are introduced until book 13 (or was it 12?)。Having said all of that, book 14 is painful。 The main character is very whiny and SHOUTS a lot for the first 40 - 50% of the book。 This is the first book in the series that I almost abandoned。 This particular book is all over the place as the author tries to tie two lands and two sets of characters together for whatever is coming next。 So, why am I reading this series? I work in a middle school and the kids love to see me reading what they are reading。 It allows me into their world and provides some great conversation fodder。 。。。more

She immediately refuses to let these strange new dragons stay in her kingdom, but then she ends up going with them to gather an army。 On the way, Snowfall learns that these dragons need her help。 She decides to do the right thing, and gathers the other queens to help。 Unfortunately for Snowfall, she has a magic ring that forces her to see from other dragon’s perspectives。 Snowfall must learn her lessons from the ring, which she soon does after seeing the other dragons’ pain。 The story ends as a group of dragons return to the other continent where the other dragons came from to help stop a war。My opinionI personally liked this book because it was exciting and tense。 I especially liked how Snowfall grew on her journey。 She went from being grumpy and, quite frankly, mean, to a nice, pleasant queen。 Snowfall seems quite relatable to me, cautious with strangers, which is another one of the things I like。 Tui T。 Sutherland, the author, has done a very good job with her books, adding tension, excitement, mystery, and so much more that is found in a good book!My evaluation I think that the writer, Tui T。 Sutherland, did a good job developing her main character, Snowfall。 During the beginning of the story, Snowfall is a slightly mean, nervous for her tribe dragon who is extremely cautious。 But at the end of the book, Snowfall is a nice, kinder dragon than she used to be。 That is one of the strengths。 Another strength is that the author did a good job illustrating the setting in our minds。 She did a good job with plot development, following the 8-point-story Arc well。 I do not have any comments about any weaknesses。 。。。more

Favorite book in the entire Wings of Fire series。 It illustrates some very beautiful character development in its own self-contained story about Snowfall while still advancing the plot of the lost continent series。

I managed to read this entire book in one sitting and。。。 I think it was okay。 The premise of the book is Queen Snowfall struggling with the pressures of being Queen at such a young age。 Of course, she gets over this by the end of the book。 In short without any spoilers I think that this book was mostly just filler, It could have been way shorter, but I do like some parts of the book, such as reading about Jerboa。 I found myself skimming quite a bit of this though。But on to my bigger problems。 Sn I managed to read this entire book in one sitting and。。。 I think it was okay。 The premise of the book is Queen Snowfall struggling with the pressures of being Queen at such a young age。 Of course, she gets over this by the end of the book。 In short without any spoilers I think that this book was mostly just filler, It could have been way shorter, but I do like some parts of the book, such as reading about Jerboa。 I found myself skimming quite a bit of this though。But on to my bigger problems。 Snowfall and Lynx (I think? I forgot the name honestly) go to a SandWing town (I forget which one, Possibility or Hope maybe?) and meet Sky and his rider。 (view spoiler)[ Here they start to focus too much on the humans, and basically make it so that humans are also main characters。 (hide spoiler)] This kinda upsets me, I hope that humans will not become a central theme of the book, as the reason I love Wings of Fire is because of it's perspective from dragons only。 My second biggest problem is that Tui builds up so much character development and then just chucks it out the window。 Snowfall is paranoid about NightWings and insecure, which makes sense, as it is a lot of pressure。 She grows out of this later though。 But it turns out the REASON she grew out of it was because (view spoiler)[ a magical crown was enchanted to make her hate NightWings and she had taken it off。 (hide spoiler)] Reasonable character motivation gone! Also Snowfall literally smashes (view spoiler)[ decades worth of IceWing culture (hide spoiler)], the main thing that made IceWings interesting! So yeah, I didn't really find this that good。 。。。more

Snowfall, an extremely minor character barely worth mentioning before, is suddenly given the full POV treatment。 The Icewings are the first to receive the refugees。 As the new Queen she's annoyingly xenophobic and paranoid, and spends the entire novel learning the obvious lessons from a magic ring that grants her insight into other dragons。In terms of major plot points, there's almost nothing。 This entire book could be summarized in sentence or two。 It's a gigantic waste of time, and derails the otherwise awesome exciting ending from the last book。Hopefully the next book gets back on track, as the series remains a favorite of mine and my 10-year old's。 We agreed that this is easily the worst of the bunch。 。。。more

I recently read The Dangerous Gift by Tui T。 Sutherland, and I rate it 4 out of 5 stars。 Its story takes place in a fictional world called Pyrrhia, back in ancient times and inhabited by dragons。 After her mother’s abrupt death, the new queen of the Icewings, Queen Snowfall, must rise to the occasion。 She juggles the weight of leadership and the threat of mysterious invaders arriving on her kingdom’s shores。 On page 37 of the book, Snowfall says, “I don’t have TIME for that kind of nonsense! I AM RULING A KINGDOM RIGHT NOW, not that you’ve apparently noticed!” This excerpt does a good job of explaining Snowfall’s struggle, which persists throughout the story。 Understanding and relating to Snowfall is a big part of what makes this book fun to read。 I rated The Dangerous Gift 4 out of 5 stars because it teaches many good lessons while maintaining a cool, whimsical impression that keeps it interesting。 My only issue with the book is that the characters’ dialogue leaves a bit to be desired。 Sometimes the author’s style of dialogue is too casual for a scene meant to be serious, but it’s not that terrible of a problem。 I would definitely recommend this book to a friend。 If you enjoy fantasy and– to put it simply, dragons, then this is the book for you。 。。。more
